Virginia Lake Aviary

Virginia Lake Aviary is a charming free-admission aviary situated within the scenic Virginia Lake reserve in Whanganui, on New Zealand's North Island. The walk-in enclosure is home to a variety of colourful birds including turquoisine parakeets, eastern rosellas, peach-faced lovebirds, parrots, cockatoos, and finches, providing a delightful experience for birdwatchers and families. Open daily from 9am to 4pm, the aviary complements the wider Virginia Lake parkland, which offers a peaceful woodland walk around the lake and the illuminated Higginbottom Fountain. Donations are welcome to support the aviary's ongoing care. The setting makes for a relaxing and enriching outing that celebrates birdlife in a tranquil natural environment.
