Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary is a working charity sanctuary set within the Brecon Beacons National Park in Powys, Wales, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming primates and other animals in need. Home to over 200 animals across more than 100 species, the sanctuary provides permanent care for chimpanzees, baboons, spider monkeys, serval cats, meerkats, and farm rescues, many with remarkable individual stories of rescue from circuses, private ownership, or laboratories. Visitor experiences include general walk-around access and intimate Meet and Greet sessions offering close, personal encounters with the animals. The sanctuary maintains no breeding programmes and never sources animals from the wild, operating on purely ethical and welfare-centred principles. Open seven days a week, it is a genuinely moving and conservation-focused destination for all the family.
