Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary

Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary is a working wildlife sanctuary and heritage-listed Aboriginal cultural landscape located in Calga in the Central Coast hinterland of New South Wales, caring for rescued native animals since 2005. The sanctuary is home to more than 400 rescued animals across a diverse collection including koalas, Tasmanian devils, wombats, flying foxes, pythons, cockatoos, kangaroos, wallabies, emus, meerkats, servals, and small farm animals, many of which free-range across 80 acres of natural habitat. Visitors can walk among kangaroos and wallabies, enjoy self-guided exploration of the animal loop close to the Visitor Centre, and book private ranger-guided experiences or overnight cabin stays for a truly immersive encounter. The sanctuary also protects ancient Aboriginal sites dating back more than 4,000 years, offering a unique combination of wildlife conservation and cultural heritage for visitors to the Central Coast region.
