Zanzibar Kilosas Conservation is a community-founded wildlife conservation project located in Nungwi on the northern tip of Zanzibar Island, Tanzania. Established by a local science teacher with a passion for protecting native flora and fauna, the centre is registered with the Tanzanian government and houses around 40 rescued animals in spacious enclosures designed to replicate natural habitats. Species cared for include monkeys, tortoises, African rock pythons, Nile crocodiles, bush babies, chameleons, and a variety of birds. Guided tours allow visitors to meet the animals up close, learn about ongoing conservation programs, and understand the importance of protecting Zanzibar's unique wildlife. The centre is a meaningful and educational stop for travellers exploring the island's northern coast.
