Zoo Idaho

Zoo Idaho is a 25-acre public zoo established in 1932, located within Ross Park in Pocatello, Idaho, and one of only two zoos in the United States specializing in species native to the Intermountain West. The zoo features a world-class grizzly bear exhibit along with bison, elk, pronghorn, white-tailed deer, cougars, coyotes, wolves, bald eagles, owls, and a variety of small mammals and reptiles, all presented in natural settings backed by a dramatic 40-foot lava cliff that divides the park between its upper and lower sections. Families enjoy a 900-square-foot treehouse, a 30-foot-high teepee, and a barnyard petting zoo, along with seasonal events such as the Ice Cream Zoofari, Zoo Boo, and Midsummer Night at the Zoo. Keeper talks, animal encounters, storytelling, and hands-on educational classes round out the visitor experience, making Zoo Idaho a beloved regional destination in Southeast Idaho.
