DierenPark Amersfoort is an award-winning 20-hectare zoo located on the western edge of Amersfoort, bordering the Birkhoven forest in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands. Founded in 1948, the park has been recognized as one of the most enjoyable zoos in the Netherlands, celebrated for its innovative and interactive visitor experience. Guests can climb above bear enclosures, cruise past lemurs, and explore underground alongside badgers, creating genuinely close-up encounters with the animals. The collection includes elephants, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, lions, penguins, and prairie dogs, among many others. The elephant indoor exhibit, at around 750 square meters, is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. The park is fully wheelchair accessible and offers excellent facilities for families, school groups, and special events.
